Smurf's up!

Not only is there a plan to make a Smurf's movie, but it was reported that there were 2500 + people dressed as smurf's in the British town of Swansea to achieve the Guinness Book of World Records for "Largest Smurf Gathering." If you want to find out more, check out what the Wales Post had to say (Smurf Record)

I think that's brilliant and I totally would have joined them!

Chick Flick Central

While I am still a 10-year-old boy in many senses, chick-flicks still never get old! Yesterday I re-watched Bridget Jones Diary, then continued on my path to feel-good cheesyness and watched 100 Girls, and then tonight came Love and Other Disasters.

Miss Jones.. it's great to see a romantic-comedy that embraces the negatives of a woman, shows her attempting to improve herself, failing, and a wonderful movie-perfect man who claims to like her "just the way she is." Shyeah right! But we all love them! We all have our dumb movie fantasies about what we wish men were like.. unfortunately, in reality, they are all little boys, many with commitment problems!

So, like i said, I am Obsessed with cutsy, cudly type films, but every once in awhile they should have a film that does not involve man and woman interacting in any way! Yes, they have action and horror, but firstly, everyone knows horror films are just a tactless way to get a guy to put their arm around a gal and comfort her, and secondly.. action stories always have a hot chick treated like an object.

Okay, so to market most movies there has to be some lovey-dovey aspect, 100 Girls did a wonderful job of portraying this 'must-have love in all films' into a fight of the sexes. They defended and bashed down both genders, which was hilarious to watch, and had tons of points I agreed with on both ends. But the ending was WAY too corney, even for me!

Carrying on... Britney Murphey stars in a british rom-com, and Gweneth Paltrow and sexy Mr. Bloom turn up at the end. Great cast for this genre.. and a lovely movie! Filled with homosexuality - the idea that all the perfect men are gay........ so true!

Anyways, I have had quite the fantasizing weekend, and its going to carry on! Next up on my list is Serendipity, which will fulfill my new obsession with John Cusack!

Updated Pandora

Most people have heard of the online radio, Pandora. People have loved it so much that they want to offer some pay to the company (which would definitely help radio licensing costs). So, they have now come up with... PandoraOne. It has desktop app so you dont have to keep the page open to listen in. I think its a pretty sweet idea. Its only $36 a year.. I think that's very reasonably priced.

I just found this, so for anyone who is interested go on down to:

bye-bye for now!
(p.s. NEW Iron and Wine album out! "Around the Well" I haven't heard it yet, hope its great!)

First Timer

I have been brought up in Singapore; a city and country where blogs have never been too popular. Suddenly when I came up to Boston University I was bombarded with people buzzing on about new blogs they had discovered, and its staggering effect on their lives. After watching my DJ from WTBU (Boston University's radio station) dig up amazing new artists from various blogs, I started to appreciate the culture a lot more.

Now working at Glam, I have found thousands of interesting blogs in only a few days. So I finally decided to create my own. My first decision was what to write about. That wasn't hard at all. Just seconds ago I was browsing through websites dedicated to movies and music, hence the title of my blog.

When people ask me to list favorites, it takes me a lot longer than it should. But here are a few:

Movies:
Based on entertainment and in no specific order;
  1. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless mind
  2. Driving Lessons
  3. All the Harry Potter's
  4. Many Johnny Depp films
  5. And of course, a lot of chick flicks!

Based on the technicalities in a film (again in no specific order);
  1. City of God
  2. Citizen Kane
  3. Vertigo
  4. Blood Diamond
  5. Babel

Music:
I have way too many artists and songs to pick from, so here are a few from the top of my head;
  1. Beirut – A Sunday Smile
  2. Sufjan Stevens – For the Widows in Paradise, for the Fatherless in Ypsilanti
  3. Arcade Fire – I’m Sleeping in a Submarine
  4. Postal Service – The District Sleeps Alone

  5. MGMT – Kids

So, there it is, a little bit about me. Future blog posts are going to be all about new/old must-watch films and need-to-hear artists/albums/songs.
